Reviews
We were staying at Turtle Bay Resort and our waiter suggested this course.
The clubhouse looks like a few abandoned demountable units. Joe came out and told off my Uber driver for parking in front of the unmarked emergency egress.
The clubhouse is basic. There's really nothing there. Odd for the US which is always trying to sell you something. The green fees for 9 holes and a pull cart was about $30USD. The pullcarts are basic Bagboy carts with big wheels, which were good for the terrain.
The toilets are a single portaloo. I didn't need to use it so can't rate it. Looked tired and in keeping with the rest of the aesthetic.
The course itself is rough. There are really no fairways per se but more areas with weeds or cut weeds. It's the first time I lost my ball in the bunker because the weeds were growing in there and super thick.
The greens are ok. They've appeared to have attempted to sand them at some point this decade.
It does have the most amazing views of the ocean and accompanying sea breeze which provides welcome respite as there isn't a lot of shade on the course.
There is also a feral dog on hole 9, which makes it an adventure if your ball gets too close to him.
Random surfers and locals will also cut across your game. So...perhaps bring your bathers and go for a swim after the game.
So, why four stars? Because it's an authentic local, cheap, public, Hawaiian course with world-class views. It's not a looker itself, but it's an experience. I'd 100% do it again.
Word of warning, it is hilly and not terribly accessible for handicapped or mobility challenged people.
A nice local 9-hole golf course right along the coast. Pretty windy most of the time. The grass is more natural than manicured and clearly has a nearby Beach influence. Mostly locals seem to play here. No carts no food no real services. Does have some rentals available along with pull carts. Very reasonable price for nine holes.
Stunning views and fun challenging holes! Very basic but also a diamond in the rough. If you want to have a good time without the high cost and not feel rushed, this is the course for you. Especially good for amateur golfers as a learning course. Don’t expect golf carts or club houses here. They don’t have either. BYOB (and clubs if you have them).
Go here if you're looking for beautiful views, great price to play & rent and get some sun! The course was pretty windy at the beginning, which should have been expected since it is right next to a wind turbine farm. The check-in area was very small, equipment is old, does not sell water/snacks and the bathroom area is just outhouses. Overall, we all had fun though!
Great inexpensive 9 hole course. No frills but wide open fairways. Bring your own food and drinks didn't see any availble there.
Green fees, clubs, push cart, used balls & tees $46.00.
Can't beat this.
If I have time may go back this week.
Hidden gem. The conditions were great, putting was true. Beautiful location and some nice shots. Easy enough for beginners but better players will struggle with the wind which made it interesting to play. Cannot beat the price and views. Clubhouse and amenities we rough and that's why it's cheap.
I did not play golf rather I walked through it to get to a cemetery at the far northwest of the golf course. It's a Japanese cemetery that's in dilapidation and I'm reviving it. Golf course is just a convenient way to get to the cemetery.
Wonderful public course with many holes having an ocean view. It's easy to get a reservation. Inexpensive.
